Over the course of this class, I have had the privilege to learn and participate in different relaxation techniques. If I needed to choose two of these I would meditation and Visualization, these are the most beneficial for myself.

Meditation has been a part of my life for a while now. I had an incident in college, that has forever changed the person that I am or the person that I was. After that I was diagnosed with PTSD. Its an everyday struggle, and I have come a long way from where I used to be. I try and implement it as much as possible, and the other exercises I have learned from this course has helped me open myself to incorporating more into my life.

Visualization is not a new concept to me, but it is new in a sense that I am starting to use it now. I know what my goals are and I know where I want and need to be. It helps to have a picture of where I want my life and how I need to get myself there. I compare this to walking up a hill. Its hard and I may struggle, but the end result will be pushing myself to get to the top.

I know I have come a long way from the person I used to be, compared to who I am now. I have learned a lot from this class about different aspects of healing, along with new things about myself. I hope to learn more along the way, and be able to keep incorporating new ideas and new concepts. This in the long run, will help me get to where I want to be.

  1. Thank you for sharing Sophie! Our post were very similar! I feel the same way about meditation and visualization. They are probably two of my favorite practices and the ones that have benefited me the most. I to have learned so much from this class and have learned so much about myself. I really liked you compared it to walking up a hill. Its definitely a struggle and hard at time but the end result it worth it and it gives you motivation to climb that hill.

  2. Sophie I am so happy that you are receiving some great results I guess its safe to say that if you continue better days lie ahead. I use Visualization everyday at work. I picture all my tasks at the beginning of the day, make a to-do list and then tackle them one at a time. I encourage to keep pushing yourself to the top of you personal hill, you are going to make it.

  3. Sophie- I admire your courage in dealing with PTSD. I also have PTSD. It can affect you at unexpected times and in unexpected ways. It is a day by day process dealing with PTSD. I have found meditation and hypnotherapy to be invaluable tools. I wish you all the best!

  4. Hi Sophie!
It sounds like you found a place within yourself that is working for you. That is so awesome! When you speak of climbing hills it reminds me of me. I feel that most of my life has been a hill but now, since I started school, those hills have began to become smaller mole hills. I have discovered a lot about myself as an adult. As a child and teen and even as a parent I was just floating through life. Today, I can honestly say that there are so many more awakening moments that are genuine and truly meaningful. I can hear in your tone that you are looking for that peacefulness as well. I assure you Sophie, you will find it. It's coming and at that moment in time you will see the grass as greener, the sky as bluer and the sun the brightest you have ever seen ...ever. Then you will know that you found that place of harmony. My thoughts are always with you.
