The journey on relaxation exercise was very interesting. My
computer is in my living room, so I plugged in my headset and laid down on the
floor to participate in the exercise. I was very apprehensive at first because
I have a problem relaxing more times than not. As the exercise progressed, I
felt myself letting go some of that control and trying to make myself relax.
There were times where I tensed up, but as he eased into the next statement it
helped alleviate my tension. The explanations after the techniques helped as
well. He was letting me know that blood was going to flow more frequently as
this point and that I was not going to feel like I was able to move at this
point in time. I can say that I have been battling with a stress headache since
last night. I finally had to break down and take something for it. Nothing has
helped, but after this exercise I am headache free. I am almost to the point of
tears because I could not get this headache to go away, I was scared for a
moment of time. I feel much better, and I may start using this regiment to help
when these types of headaches occur.
So happy to hear this helped to relieve your headache. That is definitely something to use in the future, I will keep this in mind for myself and others. I enjoyed this process and felt very relaxed after the session. Thanks for sharing your experience.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing what full body relaxation can do to our body and mind! The release of muscular tension in our body begins to relieve all sorts of ailments that sometimes we don't realize are maybe just stress or muscular tension. I am so glad you found some relief! I get migraines and definitely always try to do a full body relaxation or meditation to find relief. So know you have a tool in your pocket to pull out when needed.
ReplyDeleteSophie,
ReplyDeleteI was pretty skeptical at first as well, but once I bought into it and decided to really try it, I did enjoy relaxing. Letting go of control definitely is important while relaxing and I found that out as well while I was doing the exercise. That's awesome that you benefited so much from it! It really hits home the concept of the mind controlling the body and its physiology.
